Day 4; Orientation and Sports day

Woke up at 9.52am when we were supposed to meet at 10am! Quickly bathed and chiong down! Heng not late for today's orientation.

Long & warm journey to the place we are going to have our lessons. One of the building in the Campus.
Finally reached the place we are going to have our lessons! Surrounded by the sea and was super warm. Everybody was sweating like mad cows when we were going up the super long slope. Had to walk fast as the tour guide literally "flew" ahead of us.. An ironic picture. Above, "SPEAK ENGLISH PLEASE", board beside xanier, full of chinese word. Assembled in front of the door and it is Super windy inside!
The phrase which I did an essay on before. Secondary 4 discussion essay. Either agree or disagree. Different people have got different view on it though.

Went in to the library to take a look. Super huge and saw a hard working local citizen! he's like carrying up 3 carton full of boxes up the flight of stairs. Sweat all over the Shirt. Not complaining at all. AND, there's no air con..

Walked out of campus to the prepaid card shop. Eshlyn card seems to have some problem and they are trying to understand what the Lady is telling them. While waiting for them, a family came in to take their IC-sized photo! The service here is fantastic! After taking your picture, they will upload it inside the computer and PHOTO SHOP IT. oh my god right?! They make the Mother's face smaller and delete away the fray hair!

Ate our lunch at some shop that sells dumplings, rice and noodles! quite tasty. OH yes. they pronounce "wun-tun" as "hun-dun". The person corrected me and gave me the look that says "diedie have to say hun-dun if not you die" can die. so Reb and I reordered saying Hun-Dun.

THE LION AND I

Went to the supermarket near KFC. They got the Singapore Frozen food entry door. Mostly everywhere here. Brought instead milk tea and fruits for healthy living! Played the skate board looking thing in the supermarket. Got a membership card again.

Electronic Lockers! China's technology is much advanced than Singapore you know.

Went back to hostel to do some stuff and went out to the campus canteen to have our dinner! Meal cost 4.50RMB in total. I ate the whole meal using chopsticks only. Wasn't used to it.

After dinner followed by some and Shopping around, we went to the court area and play volleyball! Our only exercise ever since we've been in china Our new ICT friend! Super friendly and volleyball expert. He got grounded for 1 day because he reached the campus at 10.35pm on the previous day. Take note people! don't be home [hostel] late.

Once, Alvin hit the ball too hard and it rolled all the way out of the court, down the stairs and... IN TO THE HOLE! we all ran after it and alvin manage to get in to help us take it out! super dangerous right. After retriving our volleyball, we realised that we all ran after the ball and left our BAGS BEHIND. How forgetful of us not being careful.
Went back to the hostel and wait for the 9.00pm briefing for Saturday Water Rafting and Sunday Tracking. Went out to get KFC for supper! yummy~ decided to cook the milk tea we bought. Quite nice you know. but looked like shit when it is not mixed with water. LOOK BELOW.

Day 3; To the city!

Went to the city as planned today! Met the group at 11am and we set off!

LMGT students! only 3 of us.

We all gathered and took a bus. my first bus ride in China. 2 RMB for the bus trip, equivalent to 0.42 cents in Singapore dollars. So cheap right! The journey was pretty long. There was no EZ-Link card, bus card or even an alighting bell. There was this lady conductor standing in the bus going around collecting money and issuing the tickets to us. and we have to either tell the driver or the lady our destination and they will shout out to us when we arrive at our stop.The Bus ticket that was issued by The Lady. She was practically squeezing her way around in the crowded bus. Pushing here and there. There was once when a guy wanted to alight, the bus door closed too early and drove off. The guy just shouted in chinese scolding the bus driver and the driver stopped the bus and let him alight. What followed was the angry man hurling vulgarity which was "mother" [ma-de] // [niang-de].

When we reached the city, we saw road stall selling the same kind of nuts and it is everywhere. Crossed the bridge to go to the shopping mall.

Wuhan Super big shopping mall! Bigger than any shopping center in Singapore. Reb and I pointing at 2 shuai ge! HAH.

First McDonald's meal in China! I ordered their fillet meal and changed my drink to some mango ice cream drink. It was very nice! The fillet was super crispy too! No idea why but it was very nice. oh yes, Reb and i got bullied by the locals you know! Some local more kiasu than us. CUT our queue. nai nai one lo.

Walked around the shopping mall and we saw the theater place! Look at the screen! Everything was in chinese. How to watch! As in how to know what are we watching.

Look at this man! He's super strong! Carrying such a heavy load and still walking quite fast too you know!

Went to have a hair cut that cost 25RMB! Xanier, Eshlyn, Shunqin and me. During the process of cutting my hair, the china hairdresser kept talking to me! I don't understand what he talking about so i told him, " wo bu zhi dao hua yu. bu shi hen hao" then he laughed. End of our shopping trip. Most of the shops we patronised gave us a membership card for free regardless of the amount spent. I've got alot of cards with my name on it already. There was once whereby im supposed to fill in my name and NRIC number and i shocked the person by writing my chinese name and relatively short NRIC number as they know we were not locals.

We then meet each other to go back to our campus together. Took a bus during peak hour and have to run after the bus before others got up. Luckily for us, all of us got up. (: dinner at roadstall again.

The noodle and fried rice me and reb bought to share. The portion of it is madness. overflowing from the packaging. Looked like it have got a small amount of it only. But actually, it is alot.

Many local crowding infront of the television to watch it. Beside the television is the supermarket Reb and I going. Bought snacks again and went back to our hostel.

In the middle of the night, the ICT people celebrated their birthday. HAPPY BIRHTDAY SHI HUI AND ANGELA (:

Bathed and we put on facial masks! The climate here is super dry you know! The mask have got a super cooling effect together with the air con in the room whoaaa shiok ah!

Reflection; I realised that friends make a great difference in my life. Old friends and new friends made! below are us! I love the friends i made in wuhan. love it! wooo. all so friendly and caring! During the whole journey to the mall today, i feel very fortunate that singapore SBS buses have got ez-link card, bell and a better facilitied bus. the bus driver in singapore are friendly too. and along the walkway to the end of the bus have got poles around to help u balance. ezlink card to allow easier and faster way of collecting the bus fare. bell to let the bus drive to know where we alighting. however, i kind of like how the low charges of the transportation cost. even tho u take the bus from 1 end to another in china, it only cost u 2RMB! super good and cool right. if im in singapore, it will cost a BOMB. Singapore Standard of living too high.

Oh, and when boarding the bus, the bus stop they have is like 20m long. when the bus came from afar, we have to run all the way infront of it if not others will alight first and the bus will drive off. Been to china for 3 days already and i never see any double deckered bus to cater to more people. isnt a more populated country supposed to have a bigger bus for the people?

Day 2; Daily necessities

Woke up at 11am to meet the group for lunch at 12pm! First time looking at Wuhan with proper sunlight. and, did i mention that during the night time, u can see nothing without moonlight. Went out of campus to have our lunch and get daily necessities. Walking across the street and the zebra crossing is madness! There was no pedestrian traffic light to signal when we can cross the long zebra crossing and we either had to initiate the crossing [J-walk] or we have to keep an eye for the vehicle's traffic light. How dangerous!

While walking, we saw this lady with a dog! We don't know whether is it her pet or is it going to be her meal. How sad. On a side note, the puppy very cute!

Place where we get our lunch! Tried some "lao gan ma" fried rice. Not to my liking. and super big portion with super small spoon to scoop the rice up.

Carried our item back to the hostel. On our way back, we saw Mr Security guard! quite cute right!

Mr Loh manage to get the internet wire to help us get connected to the world. Decided to go out for dinner since Reb and i are still hungry after 2 packet of noodle for tea break!
Walk around the hostel and we saw.... Hanky panky in school. CAUGHT YA! HAHAHA. Careful man. there's alot camera in town for this 6 week!

The lady that make the glutinous rice using "you tiao", duck egg, salted vegetable, and some other ingredient. Don't see this in Singapore!

Back to hostel with the glutinous rice. Outside the room, is like a place full of spider. it's like a spider cove or something. Super big, many and filthy.

Mosquito. Either fed on us or got eaten up by the spiders. HAH.

Reflection; Buying daily necessities was such a chore.. the supermarket doesn't give plastic bag because they want to protect the environment! so we had to carry our stuff with our hand. It's a good way to compliment the 3R campaign! Their dustbin were all coloured and separated between, recyclable and non-recyclable. However, during the night at, the road side stall food are all packed in paper cups and are thrown everywhere along the street. very dirty and there is only 1 old lady picking up all the litters. Therefore, i realised that even tho campaign are implemented, dustbin are there for us to throw our litters, the people's mindset are the ones that is hard,Must have a rule that charge those who litter!
